Location: Eastleigh (60/40 split between remote working and the Eastleigh Office)

Ageas in Eastleigh have an exciting opportunity for a candidate with extensive insurance experience to join our Underwriting Team as a Technical Underwriter.
The Technical Underwriter will contribute to the improvement of the performance and profitable development of the Ageas Private Car, Commercial Vehicle, Motorcycle and Household accounts. If you are an experienced Insurance professional, with excellent numerical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders of all levels, the Technical Underwriter opportunity could be the perfect next step in your career.

Your responsibilities will include:
To contribute to the control of financial and reputational risk and impact on profitability through ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation.
To provide mentor/coaching guidance to colleagues.
To support the Technical Underwriting Manager, the Senior Technical Underwriter and Technical Underwriting team, as appropriate.
Reviewing underwriting rules and technical processes and recommending necessary changes to maximise market opportunities, achieve the plan growth and profitability, and control areas of poor performance;
Managing projects, ensuring products remain fit for purpose, systems and technical processes are properly maintained and delivering within agreed timescales;
Researching the development of Private Car, Commercial Vehicle, Motorcycle and Household products within the market and recommending changes to Ageas products and policy covers

What you will need to succeed in the Technical Underwriter Role:
Excellent numerical skills, with a strong ability to analyse and interpret complex data.
Excellent skills in explaining, both internally and externally to key business partners, the interpretation of policy wordings, underwriting and pricing decisions and the outcome of audits.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to intermediate level.
Organised and thorough, with good project management skills and demonstrating attention to detail.
Good risk evaluation skills.
Proactive, innovative, self motivating and able to work with minimal supervision, with a desire to learn
