Premier Engineering has engaged with a key client and a world leader in low carbon power generation technologies, a very innovative and future thinking business. Due to an increase in new projects and team growth a new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to join on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for driving new technology, strategy, performance and the continued development of the team, to ensure the continued success of producing optimum designs to the highest quality, and at the right cost to meet our customer & business requirements, contributing to the overall business success.

The Candidate
As Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be a natural problem solver with passion to deliver, someone who takes a hands-on approach and is dedicated to continuous improvement.
Leadership is a critical aspect of this role and we are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate a values-based approach to leadership. With a strong behavioural set, including role modelling, strategic thinking, effective decision making, good judgement, influencing and motivating.
The successful candidate will have a technical background in Mechanical Engineering or Analysis, and the ability to apply their expertise successfully alongside making strategic leadership decisions, resulting in optimised team performance and development.

Develop strategies and technology to the correct TR levels, to meet the development Road Map
Lead the team to ensure delivery of the system requirements
Develop, manage and Empower your teams to take accountability for their part of the system, providing support, mentoring, feedback, and recognition, devolving requirements to an appropriate level, develop and manage your teams
Define the appropriate ISO or equivalent engineering standards
Create a safe working environment and risk assessments
Ensure effective succession planning, particularly for high impact roles
Reviewing emerging technologies, methodologies and establishing best practices, to consistently drive down cost whilst maintaining quality, in conjunction with the Head of EngineeringSkills & Experience needed for the role:

Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Strong leadership skills
Technical background in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in turbo machinery or other equivalent products such as turbo chargers
Experience with analysis and/or design in high stress/high temperature applications
Strong time management and prioritisation
Demonstrable experience of owning, driving and delivering design & analysis standards and processes
