An exciting opportunity at EMCOR has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding contract with BT based in the Southampton area.
The hours of work are 8:00 – 17:00

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the commercial performance of a number of design and build fabric and MEP projects valued between £250K – £3m being delivered through long – term framework agreements, within the telecoms space, with the focus upon working with our customer in a non-adversarial manner that provides them with the desired outcome of delivering to the pre-set budget, and for EMCOR UK providing acceptable margin and O/I performance.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Post contract award taking the estimating – operations review and work with the project operations and procurement team to secure best pricing options covering plant, materials and subcontract, that improves upon the financial targets pre-set at the review, through market engagement and negotiations.
• Continuously work with the assigned project teams to plan, monitor and review labour cost performance, where self-delivery is being carried out.
• Manage subcontract cost performance, to ensure cost certainty is maintained and commercial risk is removed.
• Agree monthly valuations with all subcontract supply chain, that supports EMCOR UK valuations to customer.
• Submit and agree contract variations on a regular basis, in a timely manner that dos not impact programme deliverables.
• Submit and agree on a monthly basis EMCOR UK valuation to clients PQS team.
• Carry out monthly project performance reviews and present to Business unit senior management team.
• Responsible for agreeing sub-contract final accounts that delivers on project performance targets, without introducing risk.
• Responsible for agreeing project final accounts with client PQS team, in line with performance expectations.
• As and when required provide commercial input to individual project proposals.
• Protect the EMCOR "brand" at all times through the application of best in class professional commercial practice and principles.
• Work in a way that delivers upon effective and appropriate leadership, team spirit in line with the company's culture and values.
• Accountable for own development plan for continuous improvement of competences in relation to the EMCOR career development program.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience:

• Extensive experience in a building services design and build led environment.
• A self-starter, with a passion for continuous improvement.
• A track record in delivering to or better than set budget targets.
• A team player, who can provide energy and enthusiasm to raising the bar towards contract performance.
• Actively challenge the status quo, and never wanting to accept mediocrity
• Experience in preparing and negotiating legal and commercial aspects of sizeable contracts
• An understanding of the principles of risk management
• Strong analysis and report writing skills demonstrating attention to detail
• Communicate risks and mitigations to the account senior team and or local colleagues as soon as they arise.
• Good presentation skills, both written and oral.
• Proven ability to contribute to the development of long-term business plans and commercial strategy.
• Experience in negotiating complex deals with third party suppliers
• Ideally qualified to HNC/HND/degree level in Quantity surveying, building services, construction.
• Valid full driving licence.
