OVERVIEW:

My clients strategy to design and develop a range of quality highly automated carton, label and packaging printing and converting presses has resulted in considerable growth which has prompted a need to strengthen our operations team. As a result a decision has been taken to appoint an experienced professional to the role of Quality, Safety and Sustainability Manager, reporting to the Operations Director.

The candidate must take a hands-on and methodical approach to the design, implementation and enforcement of processes aligned with improving the quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

The preferred candidate will have a technical and process driven background with at least five years' experience working in a comparable environment, preferably dealing with the manufacture of high value, low volume machinery.

The Quality, Safety and Sustainability Manager will be required to participate and encourage the team working culture throughout the organisation and to be self-motivated in adopting continuous improvement philosophies.

The Quality, Safety and Sustainability Manager will be a member of the management team reporting to the Operations Director, and as such will be expected to play a full role in the development of the company strategy and business plans, in addition to general improvements in operation efficiency and technical awareness.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

COMPLIANCE –

Work with our clients nominated CE / UKCA consultant to define and implement the necessary processes and checks to ensure our products are shipped in compliance with the standards.
To conduct the necessary regulatory checks and compile the evidence for each complete machine prior to despatch.
Ensure that our client has the relevant test equipment and tools and that it is calibrated.QUALITY CONTROL –

Responsible for the implementing and maintaining strict quality control processes to improve product quality, customer satisfaction and to reduce waste.
Maintain the ISO 9000 quality management system including supervision of the audit.
Support the Production Manager with the creation of training programs and tools such as build assembly manuals in order to improve quality, consistency and efficiency as well as reducing reliance on "specialist knowledge".
Review existing policies and make suggestions for improvements.
Measure and report on performance to identify and monitor areas for improvement.

SAFETY –

Identify safety improvement opportunities through routine risk identification and control initiatives and implement the necessary controls to mitigate such risks.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain safety files and records in accordance with company and HSE rules.
Determine safety training requirements, document the training requirement and where relevant provide the necessary training.
Identify and control risks and conduct the necessary risk assessments, ensuring that records are maintained and up to date.ENVIRONMENTAL

Ensure our client achieves its environmental and sustainability goals by setting organisational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery.
Lead the implementation of environmental and sustainability policies and practices.
Create awareness of environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, European Union and international regulation and legislation.
