Our established and growing sector leading client are seeking an experienced Product Category Manager to join their busy team in Bargoed.
This is a key hire for the company, and you will be responsible for leading, shaping and executing the trading strategy for the equipment category division.
You will develop a robust set of category plans that will ultimately deliver the budgeted growth for the next 3 years and beyond. You'll be seen as 'the' category expert and go to person for all planning, whether promotional, strategic, or tactical.
You will also lead cross-functional implementation of the category plan working with sales, online and operational functions as well as leading a team across product, demand planning and buying experts.
Develop and implement the category plan which will include, category role, category definition, category scorecard analysis, category strategy and tactics development and then final implementation and review.
Category & sub category analysis to identify trends and areas for development with responsibility for category performance to target.
Perform Market research to discover what additional products/services can be developed and launched into the marketplace.
Working with your team, conduct a ground up review and range proposal for the category, meeting all customer needs and the category commercial objectives.
Measure the performance, success, and effectiveness of promotional activity through the evaluation of campaign results.
Provide recommendations for future enhancements to the strategy, creative approach, production, offer and targeted market.
Customer segmentation analysis.
Analyse customer buying behaviour and design strategies that drive sales of previously un-purchased products.
Deliver the agreed budget numbers for Gross profit, Rev, and customer growth.
Work with Marketing to develop promotional literature in conjunction with the Graphics, Online & Sales Teams.
Competitor analysis – Product, Price & Promotions.
Work closely with field sales team to identify customer needs, new product opportunities and competitor activity.
Presentations of product category performance.Skills, Qualification & Experience Required:
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Proven experience of delivering product/category plans.
Proven experience of people management and team development.
Excellent commercial knowledge/skills.
Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal & written.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills.
Experience of managing relationships with support centres and suppliers.
Retail category/product experience desired but not essential.
Ability to manage figures such as discounts, profitability, percentages etc
Must be passionate, determined & creative.
Presentation skills (written, graphical & oral).
