Practice Accountant with Audit experience

An exciting position has become available for a Practice Accountant to join a growing team based in Merseyside. The successful candidate will earn up to £36,000 per year full time equivalent dependent on skills, qualifications, and experience.

As well as being able to demonstrate your substantial accounting experience and abilities, you should be able to communicate and provide support to your line manager and clients on a regular basis.

The role is primarily a full-time one, although there is some flexibility with hours for the right candidate. The salary shown is the full-time equivalent. 

The firm offers a flexible working policy subject to the business need, this includes an early finish on a Friday where preferred and working from home option where appropriate.

Role Requirements

The successful applicant must possess the following skills:

Fully or part-qualified with appropriate technical qualification and with at least 3 years’ experience in practice OR Qualified By Experience (QBE) with at least 5 years’ experience in practice and working to a high level
Able to produce a final set of accounts to a good level for manager review based on UK accountancy standards
Experience in auditing techniques and ability to complete full audit files from planning through to completion
Knowledge and experience of consolidation accounting is desirable
Up to date with accounting training and CPD requirements
Experience of using accounting software to an advanced level
Strong knowledge of Excel
Good knowledge of business tax matters
Strong communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Knowledge of Digita accountancy software – preferred but training will be provided if competent on another accountancy software
Knowledge of Sage accountancy software – preferred (training can be provided if needed)
Able to provide support to junior staff
Role Responsibilities

Preparing year-end accounts for a variety of clients including complex limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, etc using accounting software and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Audit planning and completion of audit files to Director/RI review standard
Preparing corporation tax computations and returns for review by the managers
Preparing deferred tax calculations and proof of tax reconciliations
VAT returns preparation and knowledge of MTD required
Able to prepare periodic management accounts for management information purposes
Ensuring year-end company accounts and corporation tax returns are submitted in accordance with Companies House and HMRC deadlines respectively
Dealing with client queries via phone, email and in person where required
Managing your own small portfolio of clients subject to the general oversight of your line manager
