Mechanical Design Engineer

The successful candidate will report to the Newport site Engineering Manager and provide mechanical design expertise to the
project team.

The Role
Preparation of detailed drawings and design packages to allow piping/equipment to be fabricated and installed;
Support capital projects from conception and ensure the approval, design, procurement, construction and commissioning are safe,
efficient and maintainable;
Accountable for ensuring that assigned projects comply with all relevant internal and external standards and requirements;
Provide the Projects Manager (or designee) with expenditure forecasts for assigned projects;
Undertake the mechanical engineering design for assigned projects;
Actively undertake safety participation activities and assigned site safety actions.

The Person
Will ideally be working towards becoming a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and be a degree qualified Mechanical
Engineer with several years' experience working in a similar environment.

Key Experience would ideally include:
Mechanical design experience within the chemical industry;
Experience in the specification of equipment and preparation of tender documentation;
Project management experience;
Working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams;
Supervision and monitoring of site construction activities;
High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritise, and work with minimal supervision;
Cost estimation;
Drafting experience using Microstation V8i (Series 3).
