Health, Safety & Environmental Manager – Scaffolding Contractor

Our client is a growing and successful scaffolding contractor with a very well-established business unit in the Midlands. They are expanding and looking to identify and appoint a capable HS&E Manager to their team.

Being calm, organised and methodical are vital skills for this role. Equally, the ability to articulate complex ideas and principles in a comprehensible, straightforward language is invaluable. It is also useful to have a keen eye for details and a talent for report writing.

As the successful Health Safety & Environmental Manager you will work alongside operations and advise on all aspects of health and safety within the business:

Responsibilities:

* Managing and maintaining company accreditations, standards, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.

* Continuous monitoring of SHEQ performance, conducting (and preparing for) audits and inspections, recommending solutions and action plans.

* Producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements to support and assist projects.

* Investigating accidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses; producing reports to communicate project and business performance.

* Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to.

* Plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures.

* Undertaking site audits

* Carrying out inductions, training and toolbox talks

* Minimise operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, incidents and injuries.

* Attending design/project team & pre-start meetings

* Answering H&S Questionnaires, PQQ's etc.

* Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g., Scaffold Inspections, current knowledge of scaffolding regulations.

* Monitoring, internal auditing and reporting on safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) performance for yard, logistics and project operations.

* Prepare RAMS and rescue plans for projects.

* Providing SHEQ compliance, advice, guidance with applicable legislation and industry best practice.

* Assisting in the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and non-conformances and making recommendations for corrective action.

Qualifications/ Experience / Training:

* First Aid at Work

* SMSTS

* Fire Safety

* CISRS Scaffold Inspection (Advanced)

* Professional Membership IOSH

* NEBOSH General is essential

* NEBOSH Construction preferred

* Experience in preparing and giving Toolbox Talks.

* Experience in writing and presenting RAMS to clients and Operatives.

* Computer literate: Proficient in using Microsoft Products including Excel and Word, Email, PowerPoint essential skills for the job role including report writing.

* Health and Safety experience within scaffolding.

* Health and Safety experience within Asbestos.

* Scaffold Inspections pull Testing, harness inspection.

* Health and Safety experience within scaffolding.

Typical day:

The varied nature of this role and its responsibilities means that days are rarely typical, but it is likely that there will be a combination of report writing and working on-site conducting/overseeing audits and risk assessments etc
