Environment and Social Specialist

Location: South Wales

Duration: 6 months plus

Rate: £(Apply online only) per day Outside IR35 (depending on experience)

My client is currently looking for an Environmental Specialist to join their team out of the South Wales area. The ideal Environmental Specialist will come on board and Provide input to project planning in relation to ecology, contaminated land, waste, water and pollution prevention.

The Environmental Specialist's responsibilities/duties will be:

Develop environmental documentation including Environment and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Environment and Social Risk Assessments (ESRAs) and Site Waste Management Plans
Identify and assist in the implementation of environmental and social opportunities.
Facilitate the delivery of social value across the business.
Facilitate the integration of environmental documentation and social sustainability objectives / targets within the project team.
Manage and undertake environmental inspections and audits of projects and offices/depots.
Support any environmental and/or social incident investigations.
Develop and assist in the delivery of environmental and social training to staff and contractors.
Review new environmental and social legislation and best practice.
Support the business in ensuring compliance against statutory, project and other identified requirements.
Provide technical environmental and social advice to all areas of the business (e.g., bidding, commercial, construction, design, etc) and interface with the client / other contractors.


Knowledge of ecology, waste management or contaminated land management with general knowledge of other areas
Ability to draft to and prepare formal reports.
Experience within construction industry desired with rail industry experience preferable but not essential
Ability to engage with both office and site based personnel and provide constructive feedback and guidance on environmental management issues.
Degree or diploma in environmental management or equivalent
Minimum 3 years professional experience (preferably within environmental management)
Practitioner Membership of IEMA (or equivalent)
